Eclipse for Rails - Version 1.4.3.3

Last updated on April 18, 2007 7:43 AM

Eclipse for Rails is a package devloped for our use back in August of 2005. It was released to the public on June 16th, 2006 in celebration of Rails Day 2006. Though it may appear to be similar to other Eclipse-based IDEs like RadRails, it has some key advantages:

Overview of the environment

  • No custom plugins have been used. Each plugin is simply combined and configured, and the plugins are all tested by the original developers which means you have a stable platform for development
  • It's completely configurable.
    • You can configure which external tools you want to use
    • Add your own snippets and auto-completion s
    • Change lots of options including colors, file types, and more
  • Large library of autocomplete snippets to help beginners get rolling fast.
  • You can even build it yourself if you want! Instructions are available here.
